CIVIL WAR GENERALS-- UNION

GEORGE B. McCLELLAN (1826-1885)

George McClellan
was rarely willin'
to go toe to toe
with his CSA foe

that old fox, Bobby Lee,
since McClellan, you see,
had no guarantee
of complete and total victory.

Thus George told old Abe
that he could not devise
a winning campaign
without many more guys

being added to George's
A of the P
which had just half the men
of Marse Lee's ANV.

To gain time George he hemmed,
and he hawed, and he stalled,
and went forth not an inch
till his boss finally called

and said, "George, I must ask
that you not pitch a fit:
may I borrow your army
since you're not using it?"

WILLIAM TECUMSEH SHERMAN (1820-1891)
